Originally, the fabric for this quilt
was cut to make a double wedding ring design. Unfortunately, the
pevious owner of the fabric had cut the cornerstone pieces incorrectly
and the quilt could not be pieced to make a quilt that would lay
flat. Apparently, after trying several times to piece the incorrect
pieces (which I had to seam rip), they must have decided to stash
it away for years and then sell the incompleted project at a yard
sale - to the delight of my mother! My mother purchased the fabric
at a yard sale and sent the bag to me, requesting I make something
beautiful. I salvaged the pieces and designed this quilt to showcase
the now "antique fabric". I did use the curved pieces,
which would have been used in a double wedding ring quilt, to create
the scaloped edge on the quilt.
This quilt won three first place ribbons in the CCQ Quilt Show in
Juneau, AK, 2008: Tranditional, People's Choice, and Best of Show.
I call this pattern Picture Frame. The quilt is named "Robin's
Quilt". Named after the person who now owns the quilt, a friend.
