Rhoda - The Crazy Quilter

My name is Rhoda, a crazy quilter. I currently live in Alaska, where I quilt and then I quilt some more...

Peacock QuiltI first learned how to quilt while living in Libby Montana, where a dear friend of mine and her mother taught me how to quilt. I am ever grateful for the gift of quilting they gave me. My very first quilt was the Peacock quilt.

This quilt won First Place and Best of Show in the Montana, Lincoln County Fair. The second quilt that I made was the Unicorn quilt. This quilt was made for my daughter, who was then 5-years old. The Unicorn quilt also won First Place and Best of Show in the Montana, Lincoln County Fair. I have won several other awards for my quilts since then.

Dabble is the only term that I can use for my artwork. I do a little bit of painting and drawing when I have the time. Mostly, I love to paint on Ostrich, Emu, Goose and Chicken eggs... or any eggs I can get ahold of. I also love to paint on rocks, walls, windows ... Lets just say that if it doesn't move, I will paint it.

I hope you enjoy my website. Thank you, Rhoda

UPDATE! (April 2008)

Did you think I fell off the planet? No... I have been very busy quilting! Pictures have been added of some of my recent quilted items. New are: Ode to the Clock, Robins Quilt, Juneau at Night, Hugs and Kisses and Purple Bricks. I hope you enjoy these and come back to see my new projects as theya re added.

CURRENT PROJECTS:

2009 will be the 50th anniversary of the statehood of Alaska. I love living near the ocean here in Juneau, AK, and in celebration of the statehood, I am creating a 3-piece quilt (triptych) underwater themed quilt. This will not be a representation of actual aquatic life found in the pacific northwest, but rather my imagination using very colorful fabric (more like a tropical coral reef). The background pieces are finished and I am currently working on the aquatic life.
